START OF FOUNDATIONS WORKS AT THE D4R7 PROJECT IN BRATISLAVA

08/2018

FHECOR Ingenieros Consultores has been working since 2016 as Design Checkers of the D4R7 main structures in Bratislava, Slovakia.

D4R7 is a large-scale project that will provide a radial expressway (R7) and a bypass motorway (D4) that surround the eastern side of the city. The project includes an almost-3-km long bridge over the Danube River that will consist of 4 structures: 2 approach viaducts and two balanced cantilever bridges over the Kayak Channel and the Danube River. The maximum span will be 220 m, the deck has a total width of 35 m and was designed considering 2 carriageways, each one with 2 traffic lanes and a cycling path.

Currently the works on site focus in the execution of the foundations. All piers foundations will consist of driven concrete piles. The pictures below show the earthworks along the main bridge, including the construction of the cofferdam that will enable the construction of the Kayak Channel foundation. The West Approach span over the ‘Jarovce Rameno’ lake and many of their piers will be placed in the water.
