FHECOR, along with SESTRA, has provided structural assessment for the Astiñene masonry bridge in Donostia/San Sebastian as well as the definition of the provisional reinforcement operations.
The bridge has suffered significant deflections and rotations at the foundations of some piers compromising the safety of the bridge. The planned operations consist of the control of the evolution of deflections, the installation of a provisional tied system and the underpinning of the existing foundations. These operations, once completed, will allow the bridge to be opened to vehicular traffic again. The bridge was reopened to light traffic, bike and pedestrian, last 26th of December.
